Congratulations Ruth on coming home first female in the Auckland Marathon 12km traverse 2018. Ruth finished 1st female (and 8th overall) in a time of 51:41 (4:18/km, 13.93kph, 6:55/mi) and fits her training round being a mum of 3 beautiful kids under 6 years old. Kepp ip the great work Ruth.

Congratulations Ruth on setting a new season's best 5km during a training run. Ruth lopped a massive 37 seconds off her previous season's best 5km during one of the born2move running training sessions on 9th August 2018. Ruth ran 21:08 (4:13/km, 14.2kph, 6:48/mi) for the last 5km of a 6.28km tempo run (so NOT flat out). Her previous season's best was 21:45 at the Cornwall Park Parkrun. Ruth is a busy mum with 3 beautiful, young kids. Keep up the great work Ruth.

I just received this letter from one of my clients, Donna McConnell.

Donna is part way through her own transformation challenge - identical to the born2move "U v2.0" challenge we are opening up to all our clients on Monday 26th February 2018, and which starts on Monday 5th March 2018. See the born2move website for more details http://born2move.co.nz/born2move-u-v2-0-challenge.htm

So far, Donna has lost;
  • 8kg
  • 21cm girth
  • 28mm body fat
...and is the healthiest, lightest, leanest, happiest, most positivist [sic] she has been since her 30's. What is more important than the physical results is a total change of Donna's mindset...a change FOR LIFE - not just the next 12 weeks.

The majority of Donna's changes have occurred due to;
  • NOT aiming for perfect
  • consistently better nutrition and a shift in mind set (thanks to the Precision Nutrition ProCoach program we have been invited to use)
  • raising the priority of her own health and fitness (her last 12 months have been taken up looking after, and prioritising, the health and well being of her husband, Peter, and his recovery from a stroke last year)
  • and both of them being more active (regular walks, housework, gardening and a little bit of body weight resistance training too).
Here is Donna's letter.

"Dear Old Me

We have been through a lot together, some good, some bad, some downright delicious. I am so proud of how far that I have come in moving toward a new healthier version of myself.

I realise that many of the limitations I have put on myself have been an automatic defence mechanism. It was easier to love and nurture others instead of myself. Now I have learnt that it is OK to have a treat, I no longer feel like I need to reward myself. Being healthy and happy is my reward!

In order to make this permanent I need to say goodbye to the Old me. I have so much support right now and I am confident that I will succeed. If I slip occasionally that means that I am human. It doesn't mean that I am a failure!
Too many years have been wasted with this mindset.

Thanks for sharing my life so far. Now I must say goodbye and embrace the NEW ME."

Donna is an inspiration to me. She is MY ELITE ATHLETE. She is MY GOLD MEDALIST. She is MY WORLD RECORD HOLDER. She is MY HERO.

I hope she can be an inspiration to you too.

Dion O'Neale set a new personal best in the marathon (2:52:26 - Auckland Marathon on 29th October - 4:05/km : 14.68kph : 6:34/mi) closely followed by a new personal best in the half marathon (1:18:46 - Kerikeri Half Marathon on 17th November - 3:44/km : 16.07kph : 6:00/mi).

Jutta (one of our 6 doctors) reduced her marathon personal best by nearly 5 minutes (down to 4:06:09 at this year's Auckland marathon) combining her training with a busy and stressful job as a Paediatrician (involving frequent overseas travel) and studying for her Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science. Jutta came to us with a 4:49:16 marathon and has come a long way.

Congratulations Nick on completing 3 full laps (30km) of the born2move 10k Kepa Rd circuit in 2 hours (average pace was 3:59/km : 15.06kph : 6:24/mi) in hot and humid conditions. Keep up the great work Nick.

by Bazyl Piotrowski on February 16th, 2018

Sarah Caldwell completed the 50km walk at the 2017 Waiheke Walking Festival in 10 hours and logged over 75,000 steps for the day. What is amazing, and a true testament to her inner strength, is that we didn't plan any specific training for the event but relied upon here previous experience (several marathons and Round Rarotonga events together with her usual/regular walks, born2move run group runs and born2move bootcamps) to get her through. Specific training is best but it goes to show Sarah is one tough cookie and, with regards to training, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Donna McConnell has gradually lost nearly over 7kgs (72kg down to 65.9kg 65.6kg 65kg, 64.6kg), over 21cm (9cm from her waist!!), 28mm body fat and is still gradually losing as I type. Donna is the lightest she has been since her 30's and is more confident and more resilient since starting the ProCoach Nutrition Program. This is the same program we will be opening all our clients in March 2018 (more details about the program to follow). The majority of Donna's changes have occurred due to consistently better nutrition and a shift in mind set (thanks to the ProCoach Nutrition program), raising the priority of her own health and fitness (her last 12 months have been taken up looking after, and prioritising, the health and well being of her husband, Peter, and his recovery from a stroke last year) and both of them being more active (regular walks, housework, gardening and a little bit of body weight resistance training too).
