My philosophy
Train right for your metabolism, eat right for your metabolism, think right for your metabolism. I will guide and support you, effectively and holistically, with the right training, nutrition and thinking for your metabolism, to be the fittest and healthiest you can be, whilst providing ample opportunities to develop and/or maintain your spirit of adventure.
It's more than just running or exercise. It's about;
  • getting results (see Client Achievements)
  • going the extra mile
  • building lifelong friendships
  • doing what you enjoy and enjoying what you do
  • helping you grow, thrive, be happy and healthy

Experience
  • Currently co-ordinate the born2move Running Groups and born2move Bootcamps throughout Auckland. My client's primary goals are health, fitness, weight management and performance and they regularly compete in running events (from 5k to Ultra marathon with times ranging from 19:20-30:02 for 5k, 41:50-1:02:30 for 10k, 1:34:10-2:25:45 for half marathon, 3:06:00-4:25:42 for marathon and 13:59:00 for 100k), triathlon/duathlon events (from Tryathlons to Half Ironman) and vocational training (readiness for physical fitness tests for NZ Police and NZ Army).
  • Have co-ordinated and lead the "Balance Point Bootcamp" and "Balance Point Run Group" group training sessions at King's School, Remuera.
  • Also work with corporate clients (such as Fidelity Life, Baxter Healthcare, Toshiba NZ and Kiwicare Preschool) designing and implementing running and health and fitness programs and challenges for their staff.
  • Co-ordinating clients (fitness testing, training program design, training support and race day logistics/support) in events such as the Tough Guy/Gal Challenge, Auckland ¼, ½ and full marathon, Rotorua, Christchurch and Boston Marathons, Sydney City to Surf, 5 and 7 Volcanoes Challenge, Rodney Coastal Challenge, The Goat, The Dual, Tarawera 100k Ultra marathon, NZ Ironman Triathlon, Stroke and Stride Duathlon, Rotorua to Taupo 100k Cycle Flyer and the Oxfam 100k Trailwalk (where my teams raised over $17,000 for charity).
  • Developed fun but challenging client fitness events such as a gym triathlon and gym decathlon while working as a personal trainer based at Stadium Fitness at The Trusts Stadium, Henderson,
  • Have been involved in competitive athletics since I was 13. Ran for Warley A.C. (now Birmingham Rowheath A.C.), London Heathside, represented Worcestershire County and is now a member of the world famous Owairaka AA & HC.
  • My metabolism/strength is in middle distance running (800 and 1500 metres) but gained regional and national honours at cross country, track (400m relay) and road (20mile).
  • Personal bests are; 800m – 2:02; 1500m – 4:15; 5k – 16:23; 10k – 34:30; Half marathon – 1:17:20; 20mile – 2:04:40; Marathon – 3:06:37; 100k (Oxfam Charity Trailwalk) - 21 hours plus some minutes and seconds – too knackered to remember to record my time
  • I recently raised $1500 by running one of New Zealand's hardest road marathons TWICE (plus a bit extra, for a total of 88km in 8hrs 17mins) so that Clinton Davies, a blind Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestler who competes against able bodied athletes (i.e. no physical disabilities whatsoever), could attend the World Championships and Commonwealth Championships in September 2013.
  • Curently training to lower my recent 5k times back under 17 minutes and then return to my glory days of middle distance track racing.

  • DIY (renovating our house - updated our bathroom, built a deck, built a 20m retaining wall, demolished our concrete ramp and paths, dug the piles (19x 900m deep x 450mm wide) for our house extension literally with my bare hands!, reconditioned our low pressure water system so it's even better than new!!, built a modular garden table and benches.)
